When you plug the adapter cord into the pillow, the batteries are automatically disconnected. The plug-in is located on the front of the batter/vibration unit. Zip the pillow closed after you plug in the adaptor and let the wire exit at the end of the zipper. With use of an adapter, you will need to replace the batteries less frequently.
